Otto Addo Relieved of Black Stars Coaching Role

The Ghana Football Association has announced the dismissal of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following the team’s recent poor performances in international friendly matches.

Addo’s exit comes after Ghana suffered defeats against Austria and Germany during their March pre-World Cup preparations. The GFA confirmed that the decision takes immediate effect and thanked him for his service to the national team.

The association stated that it will soon reveal a new technical direction for the Black Stars as the team continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Otto Addo’s departure represents another major change for the national team, which is under pressure to improve results ahead of the tournament.

During his second stint in charge, Addo faced growing criticism due to inconsistent performances, including Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and a series of disappointing friendly results. Reports indicate that Ghana lost four straight friendly matches before his dismissal.
