According to the statement, relevant sector ministers have been directed to take all necessary steps, in accordance with the applicable laws and governing instruments, to give effect to the dissolution.

The Presidency did not state a specific reason for the dissolution but indicated that the affected boards will be reconstituted in due course.

A review of the appointment history of the affected boards were constituted or inaugurated by the Mahama administration after it assumed office in January 2025.

For instance, the current GNPC board, chaired by Prof. Joseph Oteng-Adjei, was appointed and inaugurated in July 2025 under President Mahama. GNPC itself confirmed that the Office of the President had announced the appointment of the new board.

Similarly, the CBG board, chaired by Ernest Mawuli Agbesi, was inaugurated by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson in July 2025.

The Ghana Post board, chaired by Petra Aba Asamoah, was sworn into office in August 2025, with the Communications Ministry explicitly describing it as a newly constituted board under President Mahama’s administration.

The TDC Ghana board, headed by Isaac Odamtten, was also newly constituted and sworn in by the Works and Housing Minister in May 2025.

At Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, the board chaired by Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore was inaugurated in November 2025 by Energy and Green Transition Minister John Abdulai Jinapor on behalf of President Mahama.

The VALCO board, chaired by Ambassador Horace Nii Ayi Ankrah, was inaugurated in December 2025, with the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry stating that the chairman expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the confidence reposed in the new board.

The Road Maintenance Trust Fund board was also a product of the current administration. Its 15-member board, chaired by Isaac Adjei Mensah, was inaugurated in December 2025 by Roads and Highways Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza.

The National Sports Authority board, chaired by Dr Fred Awaah, was sworn into office in December 2025 under the Mahama administration.

The BOST board was likewise newly constituted under the Mahama administration in 2025, with Prof. Saint Kuttu as chairman.
