Abu Abdul Kassim Tamaah Pledges Grassroots Empowerment, Accountability in Bid for NDC Deputy Regional Organiser

Upper West Region, Ghana – Abu Abdul Kassim Tamaah, a veteran activist of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is seeking to become the party’s Deputy Regional Organiser in the Upper West Region, promising to strengthen grassroots structures, promote accountability, mobilise resources and build the capacity of party executives.

Tamaah, who is number 2 on the ballot paper, says his decision to contest the position is driven by his long-standing commitment to the NDC and his desire to contribute to the party’s organisational strength and electoral success.

With about 20 years of experience as a branch executive, Tamaah has served the party in various capacities, building what he describes as a strong foundation of political experience, dedication and sacrifice.

He has also served as the Founder and Patron of the Intellectual Ladies of NDC since 2020 and worked as a campaign organiser for Dr. Rashid Pelpuo for 16 years. In addition, he has served on the Wa Central Campaign Team, where he contributed to campaign coordination and mobilisation efforts.

His other political engagements include serving as Chief Whip of the Upper West Youth Parliament, grounds organiser for the 38th June 4th Anniversary celebration held in the Upper West Region, and leader of the elections monitoring sub-team in Wa Central.

Tamaah has also served as Regional Youth Secretariat under Nicodemous, a member of the Regional Youth Working Committee, a member of the Regional Communications Team, and a member of the Research Committee.

He believes these experiences have equipped him with the knowledge and organisational skills needed to serve effectively as Deputy Regional Organiser.

Focus on Grassroots Empowerment

At the centre of Tamaah’s campaign is a commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, which he considers essential to the NDC’s electoral fortunes.

He argues that grassroots members work tirelessly to secure victories for the party and deserve stronger support, better coordination and effective leadership to sustain their commitment.

According to him, his ambition is to help build a more vibrant and responsive party structure that recognises the contributions of members at the branch and constituency levels.

“I have held several positions within the party and sacrificed on numerous occasions to support its vision. I hope delegates will give me the opportunity to bring these experiences to bear in serving the party,” he said.

Accountability, Resource Mobilisation and Leadership Development

Beyond grassroots empowerment, Tamaah intends to advocate a Monitoring and Accountability Policy to ensure that party executives discharge their responsibilities effectively and efficiently.

The proposed policy, he believes, would promote discipline, improve performance and strengthen accountability at the various levels of the party’s organisational structure.

He has also outlined a Resource Mobilisation and Management Policy aimed at improving the mobilisation and prudent management of resources to support party activities and organisational development.

Another key component of his agenda is a Conflict Prevention and Resolution Policy, which he hopes will help address internal disagreements, reduce membership breakaways and promote unity among party members and leaders.

Tamaah further plans to advocate a Leadership Training and Capacity Building Policy to equip party executives with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

He believes that investing in leadership development, strengthening internal structures and promoting peaceful conflict resolution will position the party for sustained growth and improved electoral performance.

A Call to Delegates

Tamaah is appealing to NDC delegates to support his candidature, stressing that his years of service and experience have prepared him for the responsibilities of the office.

He is presenting his candidature as an opportunity to translate years of party activism, campaign organisation and leadership experience into practical policies that will benefit the party.

With his name appearing as number 2 on the ballot paper, he is urging delegates to make him their preferred choice in the Deputy Regional Organiser race.

His campaign slogan, “2 Direct – 2 Sure,” captures his appeal to delegates to choose him for the position.

Tamaah maintains that, if elected, he will work towards building a stronger grassroots-oriented party, promoting accountability, improving resource management, preventing internal conflicts and developing the leadership capacity of party executives.

He is therefore calling on delegates to give him the mandate to serve, insisting that his experience, commitment and proposed policies provide a solid foundation for effective service to the NDC in the Upper West Region.
